Everything in our world is made of matter! The foundation of Chemistry is the understanding that matter (materials) can be chemically and physically manipulated to form new products. In this unit students will extend on prior learning (Year 10 unit: Who’s the Mole?) to develop and apply skills relating to; determining chemical formulas, naming chemical, writing and balancing chemical equations, using ‘the Mole’, understanding the various chemical and physical similarities and variations between a range of elements, compounds and mixtures. Students will develop an appreciation of the scientific method in order to design and report on their own (controlled) experiments throughout the two year course. term 1 lesson sequence Teaching resources SWF + PDF
